Deputy Chief
Destin Wendlandt
The Deputy Chief of Operations is appointed by and serves at the pleasure and direction of the Fire Chief. The Deputy Chief serves at the pleasure of and under the direction and immediate supervision of the Fire Chief to assist the Fire Chief in planning, organizing and directing Department operations and daily needs and assists the Fire Chief in achieving Department policy, goals, and legislative mandates.
Fairfield Plantation Fire Rescue's Deputy Chief oversees all activities within the
Operations Division  with duties such as:


- Participates in and has major responsibilities for the development and implementation of the Department’s strategic and long-range planning efforts, goals and objectives, budgeting, and programs consistent with the Department mission statement and level of service.

- Conducts or directs and oversees the actions of all Department personnel; holds all personnel accountable for the enforcement of Department rules, regulations, orders, procedures, and policies; keeps the Fire Chief informed of Department activities.

​- Reviews and oversees preliminary and final budgets for the Operations and Training Divisions. Utilizes the chain of command, organizational structure, and the appropriate delegation of authority and responsibility for various work projects.
The Deputy Chief also participates in developing short and long term goals for the fire department's strategic plan and oversees the development of the department's policies and procedures. The Deputy Chief also assists in maintaining personnel files for state and ISO compliance, as well as department data entry and processing for ISO and state audits.
